Salt to Software conglomerate, Tata Group, is reportedly in talks with Taiwan based Wistron Corp to start a joint venture focussed to assemble Apple’s Iphones in India. This Joint inititative will be a Tata another step to push itself in technology sector. The Tata is planning to enter in the Smartphone sector with the help of this of partnership, the Bloomberg reported.
Based in Cupertino, California, Apple is said to be bullish towards Indian market as it started assembling iPhones in the country from 2017. It started with Wistron and later with Foxconn also got the rights to do assembly; It wasn't immediately clear from the reports whether Apple was informed of the discussions.
The idea may end as the two businesses constructing a new assembly plant, the Tata group buying shares in Wistron's India operations, or both actions being carried out, according to the report. Although the deal's specifics are still being worked out, Bloomberg said that Tata’s may eventually own a portion of Wistron's manufacturing operations in addition to cellphones. Requests for comment from Apple, Tata Group, and Wistron were not immediately fulfilled.
