The Ayur Ganga Spa: Design explains art of space utilization without hampering natural beauty

Located at the bank of the awe inspiring, tranquil river Ganges, the riverside boutique hotel Ganga Kinare offers exquisite wellness retreat at The Ayur Ganga Spa for beginners to experience spiritual rejuvenation with yoga and meditation. Spread in about 1000 sq ft of area, The Ayur Ganga spa has a delightful retreat to offer dedicated yoga and meditation practitioners with the renowned instructor Akhilesh Pandey, who has expertise in Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation and Yoga Nidra.

WI Bureau talked to Nupur Sikka, Director, Ganga Kinare to understand the design architecture and visual dynamics of The Ayur Ganga spa.

Philosophy behind the designing
The Ayur Ganga spa is not very spread out which was one of the ideas behind its designing. All the three fully equipped treatment rooms are located in the basement of the hotel that makes it accessible and provides the guests an overall wellness experience.

Spa furniture as per its significance
The equipments (furniture) used in the Spa are in sync with its Ayurveda concept. The most important equipment in the Spa is the Ayurvedic treatment (wooden) beds. These beds havebeen made in the manner they’ve been used traditionally in Ayurveda for performing all healing retreats. Among the other accessories used are the Shirodhara pots with its stand, metalaccessories for back and joint care oil treatments, metal bowls used for performing foot-wash as a pre-treatment ritual.

At The Ayur Ganga spa, we have 3 fully equipped treatment rooms for performing Ayurvedic treatments like Abhyangam, Shirodhara, Udvartana, Joint care and back care treatments and few International therapies as well.

Lights used to enlighten the spa
Artificial dim light is used to enlighten the Spa while the therapies and treatments are on.

About the Spa flooring
The Spa flooring is wooden everywhere, except the steam room, which has marble flooring.

Bathrobes used in the spa
We use fresh white are light weight honeycomb cotton bathrobes for every guest during the treatment.
