California-based The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL), launched in 2008 in India via Pan India Food Solutions, has plans to strengthen its brand’s presence across the country through a mix of company and franchise-owned outlets.

Besides having 26 outlets, the brand is currently planning to roll out 15 more stores via franchising within this year. On confirming the same, Amit Maheshwari, Operations Head (India), Pan India Food Solutions, said: “In order to further expand our footprints, we have entered the franchise mode. Besides opening company-owned outlets, we are now seriously looking at the franchise model of operations. The organised coffee chain retail market is said to be Rs 1,000 crore and has been steadily growing."

He also added, “As of now, CBTL is looking to develop regional store franchise model to expand in India. For opening CBTL franchise outlet, the investment and area starts from Rs 80-90 lakh and 1,500 sq.ft.”

With its presence in 29 countries through 1,000 outlets, CBTL wants to make their outlets in India more consumer friendly, by offering food and beverage enthusiasts a superior experience and ramping up its food menu. After opening first franchise outlet in Chandigarh, CBTL is now looking to open franchise outlets in Rajasthan, Chennai and Hyderabad.
