The Franchising World, a leading franchise and business opportunity magazine launched its annual survey on Top 100 franchise opportunity brands in the country. The report extensively showcases top brands in the franchise industry in the country under four different categories - established, emerging, debutant, and international.
The Franchising World Top 100 covers all the existing franchise opportunities in the country that features across sectors like education, F&B, health, automobile, financial, fashion, logistic and travel. The annual survey has considered more than 1000 franchise brands in the country and included national and international brands to come out with the detailed findings.
According to the report, the growth of the franchise industry in the country is pegged at 35 per cent and it will continue to grow at the same pace in the years to come. The report, further establishes that franchising is one of the most viable mediums for brands to expand and tap the vast Indian consumer market.
Speaking on the report, Gaurav Marya, President, Franchise India, said, “Franchise industry in the country has been growing at a positive rate and most of the brands have been opting for the franchise route to tap the vast Indian consumer market. Our report features brands from varied backgrounds starting from an established, international, national to emerging, these findings of the report re-establishes the fact that franchise is the next route of growth for brands in the country.”
Highlights of the report:
New education concepts are expecting a growth of 30-35 per cent, where as established concepts anticipate one to 15 per cent growth in terms of extending their franchise network in 2010-11.
Fashion and lifestyle franchising is expected to grow at 27 per cent in 2010-11.
Food and Beverage Industry Growth is expected 45 per cent for new market penetration through franchising.
The outlook for healthcare and wellness is at 25 per cent growth in 2010-11.
Franchising World’s top categories:
Established: This category of the survey focuses on the brands which have been into franchising for more then 10 years and are well established. The brands in these categories are well established and are industry leaders and have contributed to the growth of franchising industry in the country. Few brands which features in this categories are Amul, JK tyre, Kwality Raymonds, VLCC, NIIT, Next and Tanishq.
Emerging: The emerging category features the new and vibrant brands that are on the verge of becoming bigger brands. This category comprises the brands which have shown a positive growth in the last couple of years, which include brands from various sectors like F&B, Financial, logistics etc. SAFEXPRESS, ICICI securities, Kodak, Gitanjali, Cox&Kings and Amara Raja are few of the brands which are part of emerging categories.
Debutant: This category features brands which are relatively new and have new concepts and ideas for growth. These brands are expected to grow exponentially in the future. Most of the brands in these categories were launched in 2009 and have registered a phenomenal growth in a very short span of time. Few of the brands under these categories are Reliance world, NIIT-eGuru, Pidilite, DTDC plus point, 3M etc.
International: This category features some of the international brands which have opted for the franchise model for growth in the country. These brands have their presence in the country for more than 10 years and have a proven success record. Adidas, Pizza Hut, Samsonite, Nokia, Subway, Levi’s and Baskin Robbins are few of the brands which are part of the international category of the survey.
