Samsung is one of the oldest brands that exist even today and is still standing out from the crowd. This legacy of the brand has led it to enter the list of Top Franchise 100 brands.

Largely famous for being one of the largest manufacturers of smart phones, Samsung requires no introduction. A Korean handset maker, Samsung is a household name amongst the millennial.

Samsung electronics has assembly plants and sales network in more than 70 countries and employs more than 300,000 people.

The brand has recently globalised its activities and electronics, especially in mobile phones and semiconductors, so much so that the major chunk of the revenue comes from these two divisions.

Being recognised as a global leader in technology, Samsung has been ranked in one of the top 10 global brand. But the company was first started in the year 1938 as a small trading company, and after a few years, it ventured in various other industries such as insurance, retail and securities. It was in the 6th decade that the brand decisively entered the electronics industry and since then, it has been reckoned as the global leader in electronics industry.

The first product that was launched under the electronics sector was the black and white television set. And now, it has more than 6 divisions that focus on individual products like semiconductor, telecommunications, hardware etc.

Right now the company has a number of holding companies and subsidiaries under the brand name of Samsung.

With a vision to expand its offline channels aggressively, Samsung is looking forward to add more than 50,000 retailers to its network within this year in order to stay ahead of the rivals like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo who are also expanding their presence in offline market to hike the sales.

Keeping the self confidence intact, Samsung expects that no rival can reach the hinterlands of India the way it can. Currently, the brand has around 1, 50,000 retailers and is planning to extend the numbers to 200,000 by the end of the year 2019.
