The online business or the app-based business has opened a gate of opportunities for the delivery companies, providing job, business and ultimately making profits.
Rising Demand of Delivery partners
There has been a steep rise in the demand of delivery partners in the food-delivery business, e-commerce business and almost every business that runs online. The delivery companies have also shown interest in joining hands with companies for the benefit, they get in return.
In order to get as many delivery businesses on board, to keep the business booming the delivery partners are engaging the delivery companies by providing them with benefits like accident cover, medical insurance, monthly rewards, incentives and financial assistance such as easy loans to buy two-wheelers to become a partner with the company.
Companies on Expansion Spree
Food-delivery apps, such as Swiggy has currently announced to hire 2000 women, to strengthen their food delivery arms in Bangalore. Foodpanda has recently crossed the mark of 1,25,000 delivery partners on its network as part of its expansion plan. UberEats too is planning to strengthen its business roots and is on an expansion mode.
Sachin Kotangale, VP (Operations), Swiggy, said, “As we expand our delivery fleet in a conscious and sustainable manner, we not only want to continue an industry best delivery experience for our consumers but also enable sustainable earnings for our partners with each of them doing more orders with us.”
Swiggy’s Business Strategy
So far different companies are putting their best foot forward to attract more business into their pockets, but Swiggy’s women-delivery business strategy seems to be benefiting both sides of the table.
In a gender equality era, creating job opportunity for 2000 women in Bangalore alone is a move, which stands out. Women delivering food is a strategy not very common in mainstream India but keeping balance in mind, the strategy is very well thought out and only time will tell how successful it turns out. Will it attract more customers? Will it encourage other companies to do the same? but it will definitely motivate women to take charge of their lives in a male-dominated society.
According to the news, currently, about 60 women are tied up with Swiggy across 10 cities, including Ahmadabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Pune, to deliver food.
"We are creating a women-friendly work environment with a dedicated helpline for any concern, as well as appointing more women in managerial roles. About 2,000 women will join our delivery team by March next year. Over the last few months, we have been working on training women for opportunities in this growing food delivery sector," the company said.
