- Toonz Retail to double its store count
Toonz Retail India Pvt Ltd, a one-stop shop that targets infants and kids up to 12 years of age, is looking forward to double its store count by strengthening its network through franchisee-driven model. The brand is also keen on spreading its foothold in tier II and III cities. With a steady growth and market acceptance, the brand is currently operating 45 stores across 31 cities of India.
Talking about their plans for 2014, Sharad Venkta, MD and CEO, Toonz Retail India Pvt. Ltd, said: “We have big aims for 2014. Firstly, we will reach a new milestone of having 50 stores by March 2014. Our next target is to quickly double our number. We are also looking at expanding our reach to customers through various channels like multi-brand outlets, distributionship model and making our merchandise available through various online portals.” On tapping tier II and III cities, he said: “As a parent, we started to realise that kid’s segment has not got due attention in smaller cities. The market is hugely under served and we feel that there is a huge potential. Increased media exposure, more disposable money in hand and fashion and brand consciousness is also helping grow the organised retail in these markets. As lot of cities in India does not have kids store to fulfill their needs, we realised that there is a huge demand for complete kid’s solution retail store.”
Toonz offers everything from clothes to crayons, prams to puzzles, walkers to rockers, blocks to board games, rattles to remotes cars and diapers to dolls. To expand its presence in market, the brand introduced two new brands ‘Wowmom’ and ‘Superyoung’ in 2012.
