Initially, consumers were exposed to beauty parlours, til, few passionate women initiated to transform the industry by providing a head-to-toe solution for futuristic growth. Let’s extol these women for making Indian wellness industry lucrative.

The Indian beauty & wellness industry is gaining adequate publicity for government intervention in activities like skill development and start-up India initiatives. However, it would be unfair if the industry won’t recognise and laud the courage being initiated by the Indian Women who not only created but often revolutionised the Wellness Culture in the country.

Here is a list of women entrepreneurs capturing those veterans and renowned homemakers who not only pampered the industry, but making constant efforts to nurture India’s wellness space.

K Veena
“Women are more capable then men. All they need is the right frame of mind and a little bit of support, which we provide,” says Veena Kumaravel, Founder of leading salon chain ‘Naturals’. This successful women entrepreneur has not only transformed wellness industry by establishing the biggest salon chain, but is empowering other women of the country. Discontent of her home maker image, Veena started Naturals in 2000. Equipped with strong willpower and husband’s support, Veena started this venture with a meagre amount of Rs 60,000 which turned into a grand success. At present, Naturals Salon has 525 outlets, operated by successfully by over 80 per cent of women franchisees.

Vandana Luthra
From 20 centres in Dubai, 23 in Malaysia and other markets, Vandana Luthra is the founder of VLCC Wellness centre. This gracefully aged grandmother has established stepped into wellness space almost 26years ago in 1989. Today, VLCC is the most-sought after brand with strong market presence in global market that brings about 40 per cent revenue to the company. Luthra opined, “A plethora of opportunities exist for women in the Beauty and Wellness industry. Self-employment opportunities also exist for women in this domain. At VLCC itself, most of our facilities – slimming or fitness centers, spas and salons are managed by women who also share profit.”

This veteran beautician is inspiration and aspiration of most of the budding professionals. The ace beauty expert started her entrepreneurial journey with sheer objective of taking Indian beauty industry to international market. Almost four decades ago, she adopted the principle of Ayurveda, based on an integrated system of clinical treatments and product ranges. Dr. Jamuna B Pai
Dr. Jamuna B Pai is India leading cosmetic physician who pioneered cosmetology business in the country. With her known franchise brand BLUSH CLINICS, established in 2013, Dr. Pai offers premier destination for skin and beauty treatments in the country. Over the past two decades Dr. Pai and her team of skincare experts have put in place treatment protocols and procedures which are highly effective and result oriented.
