- Travelmartindia.com to introduce B2B portal with car rental services
Travelmartindia.com will introduce 'matrixonline.com,' a B2B portal this month and has made an investment of USD 300 million for the project. The portal will sell car rental services along with other products that are sold on its already existing B2C portal. However, matrixonline.com will not sell international tickets. The company is anticipating 50 car bookings in the initial months after the launch and will offer 10 per cent commission to the agents per booking for car rentals. The company is going to introduce car booking engine along with domestic booking engine on its portal. Targeted at the business and leisure segments, the company is going to offer car rental services from all metros to the surrounding mini metros and leisure destinations. Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata are on the list for the start of the operations for the car rental services. The company is planning to promote sight seeing packages along with car rental programmes. They are not going to work on the franchise model and will be operating on an affiliate model. Apart from offering free registration they are also going to pass leads to the agents at minimum rates. In order to register, certain criteria will have to be fulfilled like the registering agency should have a minimum of four years of existence in the Indian market with an accreditation from IATA and either TAFI or TAAI membership. Targeted at the mid and small sized agents in India, the car rental programmes will not be a revenue generating business for the company but will help improve the agent`s yield. Travelmartindia.com registered a growth of 50 per cent from April 2006-March 2007 with a turnover of Rs 50 crore and by entering the B2B space they are anticipating 100 per cent growth by 2009.
