Television brand Thomson is planning to resume its business in the Indian market with the launch of products in alliance with a local partner next month.
According to a release issued by the company, Thomson will be an online exclusive brand in India focussing on smart televisions at competitive prices.
Sébastien Crombez of Thomson, France said, "At Thomson, our DNA is to offer friendly technologies to the market. India is a very promising market and we look forward to adding to the delight of the Indian consumer.”
He said, “The online consumer in India is indeed smart, uncompromising, well-informed and very discreet about the pricing. With our range of smart TVs, we want to give this consumer a top-of-the-line product at an aggressive price which is currently missing.”
This comes at a time when the Indian television market is already cluttered with over 30 brands, including Chinese major Xiaomi entering recently with ambitious plans. At present, Samsung, LG, and Sony are the top three brands in the Rs 22,000 crore market.
Thomson works with its licensing partners world over. The brand will have an exclusive alliance with a licensee in India. The release did not name the company's partner in India.
