Unisys Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd, a major player in Mobile VAS Market, based in Karnal, Haryana have joined hands with the promoters of Dixy Chicken India Pvt. Ltd after buying substantial shares. This move is going to propel rapid growth of Dixy Chicken, with expansion of outlets in the next three years.
Dixy Chicken is a joint venture between , Unisys Group and Dixy Fried Chicken UK. The company established its first restaurant 'Dixy Euro' in Versova, Mumbai, which operates on a franchise basis. This marks the foray of the UK-based QSR operator in India.
Dixy Chicken will operate in four formats in India. The ‘Food Court’ model requires 400 sq. ft. area with an investment of Rs. 40 lakh. The 'Express' model with 1,000 sq. ft. area and an investment of Rs. 80 lakh. Likewise, the Dixy Chicken ‘Diner’ format set up requires 1,500 sq. ft area with an investment of Rs one crore, while the ‘Diner Plus’ format will occupy 2,500 sq. ft. area entailing an investment of Rs. 1.5 crore.
“Initially, we intend to open and manage four to six outlets within key markets and later adopt the franchise model. However, we will not offer a master franchise for this brand," says Rajat Pandhi, Managing Director, Dixy Chicken India Pvt. Ltd. He added, “We are also looking at operating food courts in India in the coming year.”
Dixy Chicken offers fried chicken, pizzas, burgers, grilled chicken, sandwiches, salads and gelato in its combo meals. Pandhi says, “The menu has been designed with a holistic approach, rather than offering selected products to our clients. We want this to be a 'Full Family-oriented Restaurant' and not an outlet for select trendy diners.” The turnaround time for setting up Dixy Chicken outlets is expected to be 90 days, while the average per cover (APC) is around Rs. 150. Apart from the metros, Dixy Euro plans to target tier II and III locations across the country to expand its Dixy Euro brand.
