UniverCell Telecommunications, the mobile expert brand has plans to expand into the markets of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Seeing the potential that these market offers, UniverCell looks forward to have its stores there very soon.
Soumya Menon, Vice President Marketing, UniverCell Telecommunications informed: “Our brand had opened ten stores across Maharashtra in the last year. In 2014-15, we plan to expand our operations there with more store launches. After that we wish to enter Gujarat in cities like Surat, Anand etc.”
On the challenges, Menon said: “The rising cost of real estate is a major challenge in bigger cities like Mumbai. We plan to open our own stores in tier I, II cities where as for tier III and IV, we will take the franchise route. We already have far bigger stores as compared to any other competitor. Our stores in Mumbai are as huge as 600-2000 sq ft. So, we cannot afford to go for less than the best in these markets. Another thing is brand awareness but rather than a challenge we see it as an opportunity.”
UniverCell is a fast expanding mobile and telecommunications brand from South. The brand is open for partnerships also in the new emerging markets for quicker expansion and penetration. The Indian mobile phone market, which was at 160 million units valued at $8 billion in 2011, is projected to reach a size of 240 million units valued at $15 billion by 2015 March.
