- Wagh Bakri to step in retail franchise format, opens a tea lounge
While entering for the first time in the retail franchise format, Wagh Bakri, the largest packet tea company has inaugurated `Wagh Bakri Tea Lounge` at Vile Parle (E) in Mumbai with an intention to offer the consumers a unique Indian tea drinking experience. Wagh Bakri Tea lounge was inaugurated by Manohar Joshi, the former Lok Sabha Speaker and Piyush Desai, Chairman, Wagh Bakri Group. In the auspicious occasion Desai revealed that the brand has completed a coalition with Radha Krishna Hospitality Services (P) Ltd. who will coordinate the operation of the parlour. He also said that Wagh Bakri aims to represent multi-tea flavours from numerous countries like Kenya, China, Sri Lanka, etc. The Group with a turnover of around Rs. 300 crores has a good presence in Gujarat, MP, and Rajasthan and has stepped in Maharashtra recently. It plans to roll out into more cities across the country over the next one year and intends to reach Rs. 600 crores turnover by FY`10-11.
