- Walgreens And Microsoft Collaborates For Developing Digital Healthcare Services
Microsoft Corp and the drugstore chain Walgreens Boots Alliance has collaborated with a seven-year agreement. The two brands would be focusing on research and developing new methods for providing healthcare services through digital devices.
Additionally, the company would be focusing on virtually connecting people with Walgreens stores, providing services on therapeutic areas, ranging from chronic disease management to preventive self-care.
The deal between Walgreens and Microsoft would also be trying to develop such healthcare solutions that could reduce emergency room visits, decreasing hospital readmissions. The two companies said that this initiative will reduce the cost of care and treatment, making things affordable and qualitative for the patients.
Walgreens is planning to launch 12 stores in 2019 that would sell select healthcare-related devices.
The agreement will result in Microsoft being Walgreens cloud provider, catering to more than 380,000 Walgreens employees and stores worldwide via Microsoft 365 software.
