In conversation with Hoshi Karanjia, Proprietor, A’Kreations, who discusses about the brand, its USP and future plans.

A’Kreations, known for pampering its customers with trendsetting and stylish hair beyond experiences, has recently re-launched its salon in Bandra, Mumbai. Spread over 5950 sqft of area, the salon is abreast of cutting edge technology, skilled staff and offering the sense of getting value added service. The salon offers hair, make-up, hair treatments, skin treatments, manicure, pedicure, nail among other services with best product and service in the best way. Further the brand is looking to expand in Pune by December this year along with venturing in US, Australia and Dubai market next year. Thus, on the occasion of re-launching A’kreation in Mumbai, Hoshi Karanjia, Proprietor, A’Kreations spoke to WellnessIndia.com while revealing the future plans.

Why did you think of re-launching A’Kreations in Bandra area?
Bandra is the most happening place along with agile feel. This place is in the mid Mumbai and it’s doing very well. Here we can serve well established people from Bollywood, fashion and other fraternities.

What are the services that you offer?
We offer a luxurious and exciting experience with wide range of services from hair styling to complete skin and beauty services. We do hair, make-up, hair treatments, skin treatments, manicure, pedicure, nail among other services. Apart from hair care, the salon offers the best in beauty and nail care with uniquely designed pedicure stations for both men and women. The exceptionally qualified experts are trained internationally in order to be able to cater to beauty and wellness needs along with technological advances.

We cater to consumers within 15 to 65 age group. We have also started service for senior citizens at special rates. We will be adding better and improvised services for sure as I daily look at new things happening in the world.

What is the USP of A’Kreations?
Our USP is good and hospitable service. We give best product and service in the best way. We don’t want to just make money, but want to grow steadily while keeping customers happy.

Technically we are very sound with best people from salon industry working with us. We believe in offering services in a unique way, like in summers as soon as consumers come in we make sure we welcome them with lemon barley drink for them to feel refreshed. With offering value added services we look at what consumer would expect next. We understand their requirement much quicker than one can think of. We don’t want consumer to think of going anywhere else once he/she has visited our salon. We aim to be a one-stop-place for all your beauty and relaxation needs. The salon assures to serve its customers beauty with finesse and style.

What is the ratio of men and women opting for grooming services with you?
It’s a 30:70 ratio for men and women opting for grooming services since last six months respectively.

How you are keeping yourself abreast with technology?
We do not spring on technology at all, if there is something new, we bring it here and it is my constant endeavor. We have unique comb from abroad which are for highlights and I don’t think any other salon has it in the country. I tell my staff too, if you find something new I will make sure that I will get it for you. If my staff wants something I never say no.

What are your expansion plans?
By December this year we are planning to open our salon in Pune. We will be focusing on tier I cities in the country going forward. Also we will be expanding in Australia, Dubai and US market by 2018. We don’t want to spread ourselves wider, but rather we want to grow tall. We want to make it a profitable cash rich business along with maintaining standards.

As of now we are not thinking to grow through franchising. We still want to consolidate stronger and only then we will think of franchising.

How do you see the competition in the market?
I find every competition as healthy and good. I come from hotel industry and I love the competition and see it as threat. I only find it to be more strengthened.

What’s your CAGR YOY?
We started two years back and have not achieved big growth. Till six months back we were not profitable, but now we are picking up pace.

How big is the salon market in India?
There is a huge potential in Indian market. For us there is a long way to go in the business of salon.
