WHSmith gears up for India entry

WHSmith, one of the UK’s best loved high street booksellers and stationers has outlined plans to foray into India by opening its travel shops in Delhi.

WHSmith has plans to launch five travel stores in Delhi by the end of this year, as part of a new franchise model. It already has five airport stores in Copenhagen which run through partnership, and in Shannon, Republic of Ireland, which are company owned.

In just 200 years the company has grown from a single newsagent. Presently the company has over 800 stores in high streets, airports, railways, motorway service stations and hospitals.
