- Wish to open salon in a month? Here is what you must keep in mind
Starting a new venture, especially in salon industry, cost big bucks. And, when time is money, entrepreneurs make every possible effort to squeeze establishment time and fall prey for avoidable spending.
Renowned Aesthetician and Cosmetologist and Founder-Director of Alps Beauty Clinics, Bharti Taneja decodes four essential factors that you need to take care of – if wish to open a salon in a month.
1. Funds
Do: Have a budget in hand
Always consider the funds you’d be spending on your salon venture in advance – no matter how spontaneous your decision to open a salon would be. Make sure you have ample capital in hands to establish a small yet organized set up the very first that’ll eventually let you have a smooth sail ahead. So do plan your investment amount in advance.
Don’t: Fall prey for unnecessary things
Now that you’ve decided upon the budget – remember to stick to it. So, be it an extra set of furniture or any latest technology equipment, do not let anything tempt you to buy it for your salon set-up that may end up ruining your budget. Make a list of what you want and what you absolutely don’t and shop accordingly.
2. Location
Do: Choose your location according to your pocket
It will be highly beneficial to open a salon in a mall where the footfall of people is always frequent – or in fact, high. Plus, it will save of lot of your advertising cost spent in publicizing your venture as the mall authority will itself do it for you. But, a parlor in a retail hub (mall) can only cater specialized services in beauty or hair and not bridal services. Anyhow, if you dread this idea because of the rent you have to offer in such malls – you can start-up your salon in your city’s local market which is always filled with potential customers. Plus, it will be made available with a mediocre budget rent amount. Putting just few sign boards in the market will attract many towards your salon – making way for a successful business. Just make sure to choose well and live wisely.
Don’t: Shy away from Starting from home
However, in case of further low investment or if you are running out of time to get the shop of your choice – you may incept your idea from a room of your home itself – which is completely legal too. This will give ample time to your family, apart from earning a sound living for yourself.
3. Interiors
Do: Hire the decorator on contract
Frankly speaking, a month is too short to design the interior of your salon properly. However, there are few decorators or contractors available who can help you out in designing and conceptualizing the inside and outside of your salon at such short period by working on it day and night. Besides just hiring the designer, hire your labor on daily wages to compel them to work more in less time.
Don’t: Indulge into intricate details
Don’t hassle yourself to fulfill every minute detail of your interiors – just save them for later. Getting into things like a particular shade of furniture or wanting only a specific design on it can be easily pushed for afterwards. So, you can skip need wasting your time and money over such particulars for now.
4. Advertisements and promotions
Do: plan a lot of promotional activities
A metro city is filled with commercial hubs like malls, community centers, local market and a whole lot of people who are interested in knowing your brand/offers. So, promoting your offers and deals through various media platforms becomes utterly necessary in sustaining your business in a metro city. Also, in order create awareness about your brand and the offers you’re going to provide – you certainly have to set your marketing strategies right. For this, you can begin organizing several marketing activities right before the festivities and the wedding season. Like, choose an appropriate wedding exhibition or festive fair and book a stall and organize a nail-art/makeup activity in order promote your services to the crowd present out there.
Don’t: Resort to only one form of media
When it comes to establishing a new brand, you must put all kinds of mass media to good use. A lot of people these days get overwhelmed by the power of social media and take JUST its route to promote their brand. While it’s great for one to use the power of internet for spread his brand – sticking only to it is not going to get you returns in the long run.
Last but not the least, remember to multitask in all arenas while opening your salon to be at par excellence.
