XLRI Launches PG Diploma Programme Focused On Entrepreneurship

An Entrepreneurship aimed two-year course has been inaugurated by Varun Alagh, Co-Founder of Mama Earth at XLRI – Xavier School of Management (XLRI Jamshedpur). The course, Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Creation, was launched in the Presence of Father Paul Fernandes, Director of XLRI Jamshedpur, and Father George Sebastian, Director XLRI, Delhi-NCR.

This is the third launch of the Business School in terms of management courses. Two other courses, Management in Human Resource and Business Management Programme were launched in 1954 and 1968, respectively. Both of them were launched over 50 years back.

Launch of a full-fledged course on entrepreneurship shows optimistic approach of XLRI towards business education. During the inauguration, representatives of many of XLRI’s ecosystem partners including Indian Angel Network (IAN) Jagriti Yatra, Microsoft, VakilSearch, Lawyered, Qapita, Fundenable, Inflection Point Ventures (IPV) and others shared their thoughts.

Varun said that this course would give an extraordinary opportunity to startup founders so that they can take measured steps towards their own business.

All countries have recognised the value of entrepreneurship in the economy, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years. Educational institutions have also made significant contributions by establishing incubators on various campuses, including IITs and IIMs. A successful entrepreneurial education programme has been a missing element in this puzzle. This course is said to fill the void.

The first batch of this course has a size of 43 and is among the largest in terms of B-schools offering similar courses in India. Students with a passion for entrepreneurship would have to qualify through Xavier Aptitude Test for taking part in the programme. The fee of this course is around INR 7.5 Lakh per annum and students can opt to pay this in three instalments every year.

It is a full-time AICTE-approved entrepreneurship school that combines management education with incubation to provide structured long-term support for emerging businesses. It addresses management education from the perspective of startups, with the goal of delivering learning that is relevant and practical to entrepreneurs. As a result of this forward-thinking and integrative strategy, an ambitious entrepreneur student does not have to choose between pursuing an MBA and launching their own business. This curriculum is precisely structured to maximise experience learning for potential entrepreneurs.

According to the XLRI’s Website, the programme provides students with skills, analytical tools, perspectives, and experiences that prepare them for careers as autonomous entrepreneurs, family-business entrepreneurs, or entrepreneurs in corporate settings.
