- ZELIO Debuts ‘Tanga’ E-Rickshaw, Eyes Last-Mile Connectivity Revolution in India
ZELIO Ebikes, a significant participant in India's electric two-wheeler category, has officially entered the expanding e-rickshaw market with the introduction of its new Tanga by ZELIO line. The Haryana-based electric vehicle company debuted its maiden e-rickshaw models at the prestigious EV India Expo 2024 in New Delhi.
Since its inception in 2021, ZELIO Ebikes has rapidly grown in the electric two-wheeler sector, acquiring a reputation for innovation and excellence. The EV India Expo provided an excellent opportunity for the company to introduce its latest initiative. As the major international event for electric mobility, the expo attracts top manufacturers and industry leaders to showcase breakthroughs in electric vehicles ranging from scooters to buses, with a focus on sustainable transportation solutions.
Speaking on the new launch, Kunal Arya, Co-Founder and Managing Director of ZELIO Ebikes, shared insights into the company’s strategic expansion. “We have been receiving numerous enquiries about expanding into shared mobility solutions like e-rickshaws. Given the high demand for this mode of transport across India, particularly in urban and semi-urban areas, we decided to enter this space. E-rickshaws play a critical role in last-mile connectivity and affordable transportation for millions of people,” Arya stated.
He added that the Tanga series is consistent with ZELIO's dedication to environmentally responsible, high-quality mobility solutions. Arya voiced confidence in the new solutions, highlighting their ability to revolutionise urban commutes and last-mile connections while also meeting the growing demand for sustainable transportation options. The company also intends to create a separate dealership network for e-rickshaws, assuring specialised customer support and services.
At the exhibition, ZELIO also displayed its amazing lineup of low-speed electric two-wheelers, which included the popular GRACY, Eeva, and X-Men models. The spotlight, however, was on its most recent innovations—the improved X-Men 2.0 and the high-speed Mystery electric scooter. These models received a lot of attention for their sophisticated designs and performance, solidifying ZELIO's position as a market leader in electric mobility.
Since its inception, ZELIO Ebikes has established a strong network of over 256 dealerships and served over 200,000 clients throughout India. The company intends to increase its dealership base to 400 by March 2025, reinforcing its commitment to providing accessible and sustainable mobility alternatives across the country.
With the launch of Tanga and its continued focus on innovation, ZELIO Ebikes is poised to make a strong impact in the e-rickshaw market while continuing to drive the adoption of electric mobility in India.
