The brand will continue its "aggressive expansion spree" with a significant commitment to expanding its presence in the India & Gulf markets. In a candid conversation, Tariq El-Noqrashy, Director of Franchising & Real Estate Development at Chairman’s Brands, talks to The Franchising World about the company’s foray into the Indian market.

Discuss in brief about the inception, evolution, and growth of your brand.

Since its establishment of the first store in Toronto in 1986, 241 Pizza has evolved into one of the leading pizza brands in Ontario. We continue to expand in Western Canada and Newfoundland, while also exploring opportunities for growth in the rest of Canada, India, and the Gulf States.

What potential do you see in franchising or scaling this business concept across the world?

 241 Pizza has been a favorite among Canadians since its inception. Canada is a melting pot of cultures, and we offer a diverse menu that caters to everyone. In 2023, our introduction of Butter Chicken Pizza was a resounding success with customers from various cultural backgrounds. India in particular has embraced North American culture and has been influencing the food and beverage development industry by infusing Indian flavors into menus while retaining the essence of New York-style pizza. We are confident that 241 Pizza will thrive in major cities and gain acceptance in smaller communities across India.

What is your vision for 2025?

We envision signing our first India Master franchisee for Mumbai or New Delhi, with plans for further expansion thereafter.

What is the USP of your brand that sets it apart from others?

Our dough is freshly prepared daily in-store using top-quality ingredients. We continually review our offerings to keep customers excited about our next hit pizza.

What are the benefits of becoming a franchisee/investor of your brand & which all Indian cities are you planning to expand into?

Joining 241 Pizza provides access to innovation and an understanding of local preferences. We offer attractive deals to both franchisees and restaurant patrons, ensuring returns on new products and classic favorites.

What criteria do you follow to select partners, and what kind of training and support do you provide?

 

This is our first foray into international franchising, and we believe it provides a strong foundation for expansion. We seek partners who are midsize companies in the QSR industry with a stable infrastructure to support operating locations and a solid network for selecting and building new locations.

How are you leveraging technology for your brand’s growth and expansion?

We have adopted the latest technologies for online ordering, mobile applications, and POS systems. Additionally, we maintain a traditional call center system for customers who prefer speaking to a live agent. We collaborate with reputable third-party delivery partners to ensure the quality of our products during delivery.

What customization are you planning in your menu for India, Bangladesh, and Gulf markets?

We plan to adapt our recipes to accommodate the taste preferences of each market while complying with local regulations, such as Halal, vegetarian, and vegan options, and utilizing available resources to maintain a healthy profit and loss statement.
