What new developments have you brought to India Mobility Expo 2025? How is Lexus standing out from others in this sector?
Tanmay Bhattacharya: This time, we are presenting our Lexus stall with the concept of the "Multipath Way Approach." The idea behind this approach is to meet all customer requirements with tailored solutions. If you look closely, we have divided our stall into three distinct zones:
1.Hybrid Zone: Every car here is hybrid.
2. Lifestyle Zone: It includes IC engines, hybrids, and hydrogen cars.
3. Future Zone: This focuses on electric cars.By offering a wide range of vehicles, we cater to our customers’ demands while promoting environmentally friendly technology.
What can you tell us about the battery backup and range of your EVs?
Tanmay Bhattacharya: The car showcased here is still on a concept tour. We are continually working to ensure it provides better range than standard EVs. Our focus is to develop a complete package that combines clean, green technology with recycling efforts to further minimize the environmental impact.
What technological and battery advancements is Lexus bringing this year? Many companies are focusing on hybrids, solid-state batteries, and hydrogen fuel cells.
Tanmay Bhattacharya: Lexus believes in offering every possible option for our customers. Be it solid-state batteries, hybrids, hydrogen-powered vehicles, or IC engines, we strive to cater to diverse needs.Last year, we sold only hybrid vehicles. In 2025, we are reintroducing the LX model, which will run on IC engines. Going forward, we will continue to launch new cars based on customer demands and preferences.
Many companies are incorporating SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) technology in their EVs. What is Lexus stance on this?
Tanmay Bhattacharya: SDV stands for Software Defined Vehicle, and it is not directly related to the battery source. Any car can be an SDV. To make a car SDV-enabled, upgrading the underlying technology is essential.Lexus is investing heavily in this area. You will see numerous SDV elements incorporated in our future vehicles. This is a journey, and continuous evolution is key. At our R&D center, we are diligently working to ensure our future cars are smarter and more advanced.
