Tarun Aggarwal of Maruti Suzuki discussed in detail the use of Software-Defined Vehicles and Artificial Intelligence.

Software -Defined Vehicle (SDV) Architecture,Tarun Aggarwal, Head of Engineering, Maruti Suzuki India ltd, discussed the future of automotive technology. Tarun elaborated on Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in vehicles, and Maruti Suzuki vision. His insights reflect how the company is working towards technological advancements while keeping the needs of Indian customers in focus.

Importance of software

Tarun Aggarwal: "Software is becoming increasingly important in vehicles. In the future, more and more features will be driven by software. Previously, each controller had its own function providing some value to the customer. But going forward, having 100 controllers in a vehicle won't be feasible. SDV ensures the simulation of functions in one or multiple controllers to provide greater value to the customer. Additionally, if you have one sensor, you can use it for multiple purposes, creating more integration."

How is AI used in automotive technology?

Tarun Aggarwal: "We use AI in multiple ways. For example, in our vehicles, there’s a telematics device from which we extract data. We apply machine learning and AI to detect any abnormalities. Based on this, we can determine if preventive or specific maintenance is needed for the vehicle or any system. Another use is analyzing driver behavior and educating him to drive better. The software inside the vehicle can also learn and adapt based on the environment."

What is your goal for 2025?

Tarun Aggarwal: "As Maruti and the automotive industry, our goal is to continue providing the joy of mobility to millions of customers in India, and we aim to keep doing this. At the same time, we need to make vehicles that are relevant to India. We want to provide mobility to everyone, from those who want to buy an entry-level car that is safe and efficient, to those in the higher segment who want more."

Conclusion

As Maruti Suzuki shapes the future of automotive technology, the company approach with Software-Defined and AI-Integrated vehicles is paving the way to redefine the mobility experience. With a clear commitment to both entry-level and premium customers, Maruti’s roadmap for 2025 is promising, ensuring safe, efficient, and joyful mobility for all.
