K.Sardhar AKA Abhinav Sardhar is an entrepreneur, actor and philanthropist. After working with MNCs like Coke and Kingfisher for a decade, he established Hyderabadi Chai Adda (HCA). Read to know his growth story and plans for HCA ahead.

  1. What prompted you to start HCA? When did you start and how has the experience been so far?

The most important reason to start HCA was to serve people traditional authentic chai in a hygienic environment within a pocket friendly budget. Also, via franchising, I want to help and inspire younger generations to start their own business. This in turn creates a lot of job opportunities as well.

I started HCA in 2016 and our first sip of chai was served to Shri Ratan Tata sir. Recently we took HCA to USA, which has been a great achievement.

The experience so far has been challenging as there are a lot of unorganized chai outlets, confusing customers as to which is the real brand and which is the fake one.

  1. What are HCA’s expansion plans for FY25?

While we have already initiated and started to expand globally, we aim to spread our brand across India with more than 500 outlets in the FY 2025.

  1. How do you differentiate your brand from others?

Our unique, house-made chai masala (spice mix) brings authentic flavors and culture of Hyderabad to café-goers, offering a taste of nostalgia for locals and an inviting discovery for new audiences. As we expand into niche international markets, HCA aims to connect people through the rich, authentic experience of Hyderabad’s chai culture.

  1. How have you integrated technology for your brand’s growth and expansion?

HCA accelerates growth by integrating technology like a seamless app and website enable easy online ordering and delivery. Through e-commerce, HCA reaches global customers and advanced tools streamline inventory and staffing, while AI chatbots ensure 24/7 support. Social media analytics drive targeted campaigns and franchise management software maintains brand consistency as HCA expands.

  1. 3 key trends according to you in the F&B industry right now?

There’s a growing demand for health-conscious offerings, like plant-based, low-sugar, and functional foods. Sustainability is also a key focus, with brands adopting eco-friendly packaging, reducing waste, and sourcing responsibly. Finally, digital transformation is reshaping the industry through AI, digital ordering platforms, virtual kitchens etc.

  1. How does HCA support its franchisees?

We empower franchisees with robust support, including hands-on training, streamlined operations, and continuous guidance. Franchisees gain access to efficient marketing strategies, digital tools, and centralized promotional campaigns. HCA ensures consistent supply chain management, providing quality ingredients like their signature chai masala. Advanced technology, such as POS systems and inventory tools, helps improve efficiency, while a strong franchise network promotes collaboration and knowledge-sharing, ensuring successful and scalable operations.
