Aptera Motors will unveil its production-ready solar electric vehicle at CES 2025. The SEV, designed in collaboration with Pininfarina, promises unmatched energy efficiency and up to 40 miles of solar-powered driving per day.

Aptera Motors, a solar mobility pioneer, will unveil its production-intent solar electric vehicle (SEV) at CES 2025, which takes place January 7-10. The vehicle, created in collaboration with design and aerodynamics expert Pininfarina, will be on display at the Las Vegas Convention Center's Central Plaza, booth CP-517.

The ground-breaking SEV features a design that removes the need for charging in most daily driving circumstances, representing a significant advancement in energy-efficient mobility. Aptera's collaboration with Pininfarina, a Mahindra Group-owned company known for its aerodynamic skills, was crucial in achieving the vehicle's remarkable efficiency.

Aptera optimised the vehicle's aerodynamics at Pininfarina's advanced wind tunnel in Turin, Italy, resulting in one of the lowest drag coefficients of any production passenger vehicle. This breakthrough establishes a new standard for energy efficiency in the vehicle sector.

"Aptera has truly pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in vehicle design and efficiency," said Giuseppe Bonollo, Senior Vice President of the Business Unit Mobility at Pininfarina. "We are thrilled to have supported the aerodynamic validation of the Aptera vehicle with truly unique results."

The collaboration with Pininfarina began during the early stages of Aptera’s aerodynamic design validation. According to both companies, the partnership holds promise for further technical contributions as the SEV nears production.

At CES 2025, Aptera will showcase its SEV, equipped with 700 watts of integrated solar cells provided by Maxeon Solar Technologies. These automotive-grade, 3D-curved solar panels enable most drivers to rely solely on solar power for daily use, providing up to 40 miles (64 kilometres) of solar-powered driving per day. Additionally, the vehicle can travel up to 400 miles (640 kilometres) on a single charge.

Alessandro Aquili, Head of Wind Tunnel at Pininfarina, emphasised the importance of the collaboration, "Aptera’s commitment to innovation mirrors our own, and we are excited to support their vision for a future where every journey is powered by the sun. We look forward to expanding our collaboration as Aptera’s production-intent vehicle progresses toward production."

Aptera’s unveiling at CES 2025 promises to highlight its vision for a sustainable future in transportation, where cutting-edge design and renewable energy converge to redefine mobility.
