Global sportswear giant Adidas has announced the appointment of Vijay Chauhan as the new General Manager for its India operations, effective August 1, 2025. Chauhan will be based at the company’s India headquarters in Gurugram.
Chauhan returns to Adidas after serving as Senior Vice President – International at American Eagle Outfitters in New York. With over 25 years of experience in the sporting goods and fashion lifestyle sector, Chauhan brings extensive global leadership expertise. His earlier stint at Adidas began in 1999, during which he held several key positions, including General Manager for Thailand and Vice President of Retail and Franchise for Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
He succeeds Neelendra Singh, who will be stepping down after a two-decade-long career with Adidas, including six impactful years leading the India business. Singh will remain in his role until August 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.
Dave Thomas, Managing Director of Adidas Emerging Markets, praised Singh’s contributions: “We’re grateful to Neel for his strong leadership of the India business. His efforts significantly bolstered our brand presence, accelerated growth, and deepened consumer connections in India. We’re excited to welcome Vijay back to the three stripes and are confident in his ability to take the brand to new heights.”
Under Singh’s leadership, Adidas India made significant strides, especially in cricket, transforming the cricket jersey into a cultural and commercial phenomenon and establishing it as a key brand category.
Chauhan’s return signals a strategic focus on sustained growth and consumer engagement in one of Adidas’ most dynamic emerging markets.
