Charge Zone, one of India’s leading electric vehicle charging networks, has introduced ‘Shwa’, a unique public art initiative designed to transform EV supercharging stations into cultural spaces that inspire reflection on sustainability and community.
Launched on World Environment Day, the initiative features large-scale murals created by Indian artist Rahul Kumawat. The first installations have been unveiled at highway charging stations in Karjan (Gujarat) and Suryapet (Telangana). The artworks depict environmental themes and regional stories, providing travelers with a thought-provoking atmosphere while they charge their vehicles.
Each mural includes a QR code that leads to the Shwa microsite (shwa.chargezone.co.in), where viewers can access high-resolution images, artist profiles, and background stories of the artworks.
Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of Charge Zone, said the initiative goes beyond infrastructure, aiming to foster a deeper connection between people and the environment. Project Head Devbrat Hariyani added that the murals are meant to create meaningful spaces that integrate culture, community, and climate consciousness.
Headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat, Charge Zone operates over 13,500 charging points across more than 400 locations in India and the UAE. With a long-term goal of setting up one million charging points, the company plans to expand the Shwa initiative to 10–12 more locations in the next six months and eventually scale it to several hundred sites across the country.
