The expansion plan includes 15-20 new outlets by the end of 2025, with a long-term vision to adopt a franchise model for scaling operations without compromising quality.

The China Gate Group, a celebrated name in Mumbai’s restaurant industry since its inception in 1993, is gearing up for a significant milestone: pan-India expansion in 2025. Founded by Krishna Tamang, the group operates nine diverse brands, including Global Fusion, China Gate, Bora Bora, TAP, and Caravan Serai, each catering to a distinct culinary experience. Now, under the leadership of second-generation entrepreneur Ankit Tamang, the group is set to launch two new brands, Breaktime and Red Box, as part of its ambitious growth strategy.

Ankit Tamang, Director of the China Gate Group, has been instrumental in redefining the brand's approach to meet the evolving demands of India’s culinary landscape. Having joined the business in 2016, Ankit combines a strong entrepreneurial foundation with professional culinary training from Singapore, guided by mentorship under celebrated Chef Ricky Goh. His leadership has propelled the group’s growth in Mumbai, where it now operates 27 outlets.

Reflecting on the brand’s journey, Ankit highlights shifts in consumer tastes. "The rise of pubs, bars, and global cuisines like Korean and Japanese have reshaped Mumbai’s dining culture," he notes. The group has embraced these trends by launching new concepts and enhancing customer experiences through revamped menus, stylish décor, and engaging social media strategies.

While Mumbai remains the group’s stronghold, China Gate is now preparing to extend its footprint across cities like Pune, Indore, Goa, and Ahmedabad. The expansion plan includes 15-20 new outlets by the end of 2025, with a long-term vision to adopt a franchise model for scaling operations without compromising quality.

As the group looks ahead, Ankit foresees emerging trends like coffee culture, cocktail bars, and cuisines such as Turkish, European, and Peruvian gaining traction in India. Leveraging its expertise in themed restaurants, the China Gate Group is poised to lead the charge in delivering unique dining experiences across the nation.

With its innovative approach, a diverse portfolio of brands, and a robust expansion strategy, the China Gate Group is set to redefine the culinary landscape in India, making its mark far beyond Mumbai.
