FedEx, the world’s largest express transportation company, has strengthened its commitment to sustainable last-mile deliveries in India by expanding its electric vehicle (EV) fleet. The company has deployed 13 new Tata Ace EVs in Mumbai, increasing its total EV count across major Indian cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai to 59.
This expansion aligns with FedEx’s global goal of achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2040. In a unique move, FedEx has partnered with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to launch co-branded EVs, which are now operational in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.
Suvendu Choudhury, Vice President of Operations, Planning, and Engineering for FedEx in India, said, “FedEx began its journey with battery-powered vehicles in 1994 and introduced hybrid-electric vehicles in 2003. Today, we are proud to drive sustainable logistics forward in India. Our phased and pragmatic approach allows us to serve customers while reducing carbon emissions.”
The green initiative has received positive support from consumers. According to a recent FedEx-commissioned study, 90% of Indian consumers prefer to engage with businesses that prioritize environmental sustainability.
By integrating EVs into its delivery network, FedEx is not only lowering pollution and carbon emissions but also catering to India’s evolving supply chain needs. This step strengthens the company’s global sustainability goals and marks a significant milestone in the journey toward green logistics in India.
