Flipkart's co-founder Binny Bansal has unveiled his new startup Opptra as a technology driven franchising operation. The business plans to take fashion and lifestyle brands to the Gulf Cooperation Council region under Opptra's 'Exporio' arm.
Bansal is both the founder and chairman of new venture Opptra and senior executives who have spent time with e-commerce giants including Flipkart and Amazon are also on the team, ET Tech reported. This includes Amazon India's former head of consumer electronics and Cloudtail's chief executive Ranjit Babu who has joined Opptra as head of its electronics and general merchandise segment.
"More franchise businesses covering electronics, sports, baby care, and general merchandise are currently being incubated," said the business in a statement, ET Retail reported. "The vision for each business is to become the partner of choice for brands in their category to launch in any Asian market."
Opptra will provide end to end capabilities through its franchising businesses and will link up with brands as either a licensing partner or a master franchisee. "Our longer term vision is to take brands from anywhere to everywhere around the world," said Bansal about the future of the company.
