Global mobility provider FlixBus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ETO Motors to introduce electric intercity coaches in India, marking its entry into the country’s expanding electric vehicle market. The partnership will commence with the deployment of four zero-emission luxury coaches next month.
The collaboration aims to develop charging infrastructure along FlixBus routes and establish a framework for future expansion of electric mobility solutions. FlixBus will leverage its international expertise in intercity transportation, while ETO Motors will contribute its electric mobility technology and experience.
According to Surya Khurana, Managing Director of FlixBus India, the initiative aligns with India's green mobility goals and carbon reduction targets. Meanwhile, Rajeev YSR, CEO of Thunder Plus and Group CMO of ETO Group, emphasized that the partnership will enhance first-mile, last-mile, and intercity operations, along with plans to develop public charging stations nationwide.
Founded in Germany in 2013, FlixBus has become a leading intercity bus service provider in Europe and the United States, known for its technology-driven transportation model. The company entered the Indian market in 2024 as part of its global expansion strategy.
ETO Motors, an Indian electric mobility solutions provider, has been operating in the EV sector since 2018, focusing on sustainable transportation solutions. The company has previously introduced electric three-wheelers and small commercial EVs in several Indian cities.
This partnership comes as India accelerates EV adoption, with the government setting ambitious targets to electrify 30% of private vehicles and 70% of commercial vehicles by 2030.
