Honda Expands ADAS Technology in India, Paving the Way for Safer Electric Mobility
Honda was the first automaker in India to introduce ADAS in manual transmission vehicles and now offers the technology across multiple variants. As EV adoption grows, Honda’s focus on ADAS strengthens its commitment to safer, smarter mobility solutions.

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has achieved a major milestone, with 50,000 vehicles equipped with its Honda SENSING Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) now on Indian roads. As part of its commitment to safety and innovation, Honda has integrated ADAS technology across its lineup, including the City e:HEV, Elevate, City, and Amaze. The City e:HEV, Honda’s only hybrid-electric offering in India, comes with Honda SENSING as a standard feature, reinforcing the brand’s focus on electrification and advanced safety.

Honda introduced ADAS in India with the launch of the City e:HEV in May 2022, making it the country’s first hybrid-electric vehicle to feature the technology. Since then, the automaker has expanded ADAS to other models, with the latest addition being the Honda Amaze in December 2024. By integrating advanced safety features into hybrid and internal combustion engine models, Honda is laying the groundwork for future electric vehicles (EVs) with enhanced driver assistance capabilities.

Sales data indicates that ADAS-equipped variants account for 60% of Honda Elevate sales, 95% of City sales, and 30% of Amaze sales. Among buyers opting for ADAS models, one in two cited safety as a key purchase driver. This highlights the growing consumer preference for intelligent safety technologies, which are expected to play a crucial role in the adoption of electrified mobility in India.

Honda was the first automaker in India to introduce ADAS in manual transmission variants, starting with the Honda City in 2023. Currently, Honda SENSING is available across multiple trims, with the City e:HEV featuring the technology as standard. The system is equipped with a front wide-view camera that scans the road for potential hazards, including lane markings, pedestrians, and other vehicles, ensuring a safer and more intuitive driving experience.

The Honda SENSING suite includes key safety features such as the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN), and Auto High-Beam (AHB). These systems not only enhance driver awareness but also align with Honda’s broader vision of electrified and autonomous mobility.

With the growing push for EV adoption in India, Honda’s investment in advanced driver assistance systems underscores its long-term strategy of making electric and hybrid vehicles safer and more appealing to consumers. As the company prepares for its future EV lineup, the integration of ADAS technology sets the stage for intelligent, connected, and electrified mobility solutions.
