LeafyBus Launches India’s First 360 KW Fast-Charging System for Electric Buses
LeafyBus has introduced India’s first 360 KW fast-charging infrastructure, enabling electric buses to cover 900 km daily between Delhi and Dehradun with under 50-minute charging sessions.

Electric bus operator LeafyBus has introduced India’s first 360 KW fast-charging infrastructure, setting a milestone in the nation’s electric vehicle (EV) sector. This advanced system allows the company’s electric buses to complete three daily round trips between Delhi and Dehradun, covering an impressive 900 kilometres within 24 hours.

Developed in collaboration with GLIDA India (formerly Fortum Charge & Drive India), the fast-charging solution reduces charging times to under 50 minutes per session. This innovation addresses critical challenges in EV mobility, particularly in long-distance operations.

“The 360 KW fast charger has addressed the charging time challenge in electric mobility,” said Rohan Dewan, Co-Founder and CEO of LeafyBus. “Our Delhi-Dehradun route demonstrates the viability of electric vehicles in intercity transport.”

LeafyBus has equipped its fleet with state-of-the-art safety features, including CCTV surveillance, real-time tracking, Driver Monitoring Systems, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Passengers are also assured air-conditioned travel with a focus on security and punctuality.

In a bid to expand its operations, LeafyBus has partnered with JBM Electric Vehicles to acquire 200 electric buses. Financing for the initial fleet of 10 buses, dedicated to intercity services, was secured through AMU, a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC).

The move comes amid a surge in India’s electric vehicle market, bolstered by government initiatives to promote EV adoption in public transportation. Since 2022, the Indian electric bus market has witnessed substantial growth, with multiple state transport authorities transitioning to electric fleets to cut emissions and reduce operational costs.

LeafyBus’s successful deployment of fast-charging technology and long-distance electric buses could set a benchmark for other operators exploring EV integration. This milestone highlights the potential of advanced infrastructure to overcome traditional barriers, such as range and charging time, in intercity electric transport.
