- Mahindra Partners with Vector to Revolutionize EV with MAIA Architecture
Mahindra & Mahindra, which achieved record-breaking sales of 528,460 SUVs in CY2024, marking a 22% YoY growth, has made a bold entry into the electric vehicle market by launching two new electric SUVs – BE 6 and XUV 9e. These zero-emission vehicles are built on the innovative MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture), a groundbreaking software-defined vehicle (SDV) platform developed in partnership with Vector Informatik.
Vector, with over 35 years of expertise in embedded systems and automotive digitalization, collaborated with Mahindra to create a future-ready SDV architecture. This partnership involved developing High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Domain Architecture, implementing over-the-air (OTA) updates, and optimizing network design. Using Ethernet as the backbone, the architecture integrates three HPCs and zonal ECUs, leveraging MICROSAR Adaptive for safety and Android for infotainment.
Despite an ambitious timeline of just one year, Mahindra and Vector successfully delivered the MAIA platform, which enables seamless software updates and integration of new applications. Collaborative workshops in Stuttgart and India aligned Mahindra’s engineering teams, suppliers, and Vector's local support, ensuring the project’s success.
Gaurav Gupta, President of Automotive Technology & Product Development at Mahindra & Mahindra, highlighted MAIA as a testament to their commitment to innovation and future mobility. Vector's Managing Director, Dr. Matthias Traub, lauded the partnership as a milestone in software-defined vehicle development, emphasizing the importance of trust, teamwork, and shared innovation.
This strategic collaboration positions Mahindra as a leader in the evolving EV market, with the MAIA platform redefining software-driven automotive technology and paving the way for next-generation electric mobility.
