German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has revealed the first teaser of its upcoming GLC Electric SUV on social media. The global debut of this premium electric vehicle is scheduled for September 7 at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich, Germany.
The new GLC EV will showcase Mercedes-Benz's latest design philosophy, "Sensual Purity." While the full design remains under wraps, the teaser image highlights a futuristic upright illuminated grille featuring 942 backlit LED pixels, capable of displaying animated graphics. At the center sits a glowing Mercedes tri-star logo, enhancing the SUV’s bold front profile.
Inspired by the grille design of the 1902 Mercedes Simplex and later classic models like the 600 Pullman and W 108, this advanced lighting setup will be exclusive to the top variants. Lower trims will feature a wide chrome frame, smoked-glass-effect headlamps, and contour lighting.
The grille’s lighting features will vary depending on local regulations. For instance, in Europe, only the central star logo may be illuminated. The GLC EV will be available in two exterior color options: Silver Shadow and Dark Chrome Optic.
Inside, the SUV will come equipped with an upgraded version of the MBUX Hyperscreen, which integrates the instrument cluster, infotainment, and climate control functions into a single curved display. Compared to current versions found in the EQS and EQE, the GLC EV’s system promises enhanced features, faster responsiveness, and a smoother user experience.
Mercedes-Benz currently boasts the largest luxury EV lineup in India. With most of its global EV models making their way to the Indian market — including the EQG (electric G-Wagon) — the GLC EV is also highly likely to be launched in India, potentially as early as next year.
