Mobec Innovation has inaugurated its first lithium battery recycling plant in Noida, marking a significant step towards strengthening India's clean energy infrastructure. The facility, with an annual processing capacity of 6,000 tons, aims to reduce the nation's reliance on imported critical minerals while advancing sustainability objectives.
This initiative signifies Mobec's strategic expansion beyond its core operations in B2B mobile EV charging solutions and energy storage systems. The newly established plant employs advanced hydrometallurgical and mechanical extraction processes to recover valuable materials from end-of-life batteries, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, graphite, copper, and manganese.
"By reducing our dependency on imported lithium and other critical minerals while reclaiming valuable resources, we are reinforcing our commitment to green mobility, sustainability, and environmental responsibility," said Harry Bajaj, CEO of Mobec Innovation.
The recycling facility operates through a multi-stage processing system, beginning with battery dismantling and component separation. This is followed by black mass collection, purification, and the final extraction of valuable metals. These recovered materials will cater to various industries, including electric vehicle manufacturing, renewable energy, consumer electronics, aerospace, and healthcare.
Industry experts highlight that Mobec's initiative aligns with India's Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) mission by localizing the supply chain for critical battery materials. The plant has secured necessary environmental certifications from the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and is backed by the company’s in-house research and development capabilities.
Mobec Innovation, a leading technology company in India, specializes in business-to-business mobile electric vehicle charging solutions and energy storage systems. With this latest expansion into lithium battery recycling, the company strengthens its position in the country's growing clean technology sector.
The recycling plant plays a pivotal role in supporting national objectives such as the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and India’s Net Zero emissions targets. By establishing domestic processing capabilities for critical battery materials, Mobec contributes to reducing import dependency and promoting sustainable energy solutions.
With a strong focus on research and development, the company ensures environmental compliance and technological advancement in its recycling operations. The recovered materials from Mobec’s facility are set to benefit multiple industrial sectors, reinforcing the company’s role in driving India's clean energy transition.
