
Montra Electric, a division of TI Clean Mobility Private Limited, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility dedicated to electric small commercial vehicles (e-SCV) in Ponneri, Chennai. Operated by its e-SCV division, Tivolt Electric Vehicles Private Limited, the facility aims to boost production capacity and meet the rising demand for electric commercial vehicles in India.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of Arun Murugappan, Executive Chairman of Tube Investments of India Limited (TII), along with Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric, and Saju Nair, CEO of Tivolt Electric Vehicles Private Limited.
Spread across 5 lakh square feet, the new facility has an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles. Strategically positioned near the Kolkata highway, 35 kilometers from Chennai, the plant is expected to strengthen Montra Electric’s footprint in the small and light commercial vehicle segment.
The manufacturing unit will primarily produce EVIATOR, Montra Electric’s latest electric small commercial vehicle. The model boasts an industry-certified range of 245 km and a real-world range of 170 km, with an 80 kW power output and 300 Nm torque. It comes with an extended warranty of up to seven years or 2.5 lakh kilometers. Additionally, the vehicle features advanced telematics to ensure over 95% fleet uptime.
With this facility, Montra Electric aims to accelerate the adoption of electric commercial vehicles in India and contribute to the country’s growing EV ecosystem with sustainable mobility solutions. The company operates across multiple electric mobility segments, including heavy commercial vehicles, small commercial vehicles, three-wheelers, and tractors.
