In a significant move to promote electric mobility, the Rajasthan government has announced a ₹200 crore E-Vehicle Promotion Fund under its Electric Vehicle Policy-2022. This initiative, aligned with the FAME-2 (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) guidelines, aims to boost EV adoption by providing State GST reimbursements and one-time grants to buyers of electric vehicles with advanced battery technology.
The subsidy applies to EVs purchased on or after September 1, 2022, and registered in Rajasthan. However, only vehicles bought within the state will be eligible.
According to Joint Transport Commissioner Jagdish Prasad Bairwa, vehicle manufacturers registered under FAME-2 must first enroll on the state's transport department portal to qualify for the subsidy. Manufacturers will need to submit EV model details, including battery type and capacity, as per FAME-2 guidelines.
Once verified, buyers can apply for the subsidy through the Vahan portal. To claim the benefit, vehicle owners must enter the last five digits of their vehicle registration and chassis number, verify their identity via OTP authentication, upload bank details and required documents (such as a passbook front page or a canceled cheque), and submit their application for approval.
After successful verification, the subsidy amount will be directly transferred to the buyer’s bank account. The scheme offers incentives for a limited number of vehicles per category, and vehicle manufacturers, dealers, and buyers are encouraged to apply early to secure the benefits.
