Reliance Brands has acquired LensCrafters' India operations from DLF Brands, which previously managed a network of LensCrafters-branded stores through a franchise agreement. Along with taking over these stores, Reliance Brands now possesses ownership of outlets situated in prominent locations such as DLF Mall of India in Noida and DLF Avenue Mall in Saket, New Delhi.
This marks Reliance Brands' second acquisition of an eyewear business owned by Luxottica from DLF Brands. Previously, in 2022, the Mumbai-based company acquired Sunglass Hut, a premium multi-brand venture offering eyewear products from renowned labels like Ray-Ban, Prada, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, and Oakley
Established in 1983, LensCrafters is a prominent optical retailer in North America, boasting over 1,000 stores across the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico, including flagship stores in major cities like New York City, San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Toronto. The brand forayed into the Indian market in 2020 with a store in DLF Mall of India in Noida, showcasing a variety of high-end labels such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, Versace, Coach, Michael Kors, and Prada.
Meanwhile, Reliance Brands' parent company, Reliance Retail, is actively pursuing the acquisition of the cosmetic brand Kiko Milano. The brand currently operates in India through a joint venture between Italy's Percassi Group and New Delhi-based DLF Brands under Kiko Cosmetics Retail.
