- Tata Motors Achieves 95% Fleet Uptime, Leading India’s Green Mobility Shift
Tata Motors, India's leader in commercial vehicle manufacture, announced a huge achievement: its fleet of 3,100 electric buses operating in ten cities covered more than 25 crore km. This incredible distance is equivalent to going around the Earth almost 6,200 times.
The electric buses, which travel an average of 200 kilometres each day, are pushing change in urban transport by lowering air pollution and boosting environmentally friendly mass mobility. Their operations have resulted in an estimated decrease of 1.4 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions from tailpipes, demonstrating the company's dedication to sustainability.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, CEO and MD of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited, highlighted the rapid adoption of sustainable transport. “Out of the total 25 crore kilometres, 15 crore kilometres were covered in just the past year, reflecting growing confidence in our electric buses among commuters and state transport undertakings,” he said. He also expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support and reiterated Tata Motors’ focus on advancing safer and greener mass transportation.
Tata Motors' electric buses are intended to be reliable, environmentally friendly, and efficient alternatives to traditional public transit. The fleet has an uptime of more than 95% thanks to modern, data-driven operations and maintenance methods, ensuring dependable service for millions of passengers in cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Jammu, Srinagar, Lucknow, Guwahati, and Indore.
The buses are outfitted with sophisticated features such as air suspension for a smoother ride, hydraulic lifts for differently abled passengers, and ergonomic seats to cater to a wide range of commuter needs. These vehicles, available in 9-meter and 12-meter versions combine advanced technology and robust performance to meet the needs of current urban mobility networks.
This milestone marks a significant step toward a cleaner and more sustainable future, with Tata Motors leading the charge in transforming public transportation in India.
